Located in the heart of Atlanta, Texas, Tommy's Bar-B-Que is a cherished gem for anyone craving authentic Southern barbecue with a warm, homegrown touch. This family-owned barbecue restaurant and bar offers a soulful dining experience that combines mouthwatering smoked meats with heartfelt hospitality, creating an inviting atmosphere that instantly feels like a homecoming.
The star attractions on their menu are undeniably the Ribs and Brisket Plate and the decadent Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream and Whip Cream. Imagine tender, smoky ribs that effortlessly fall off the bone, paired perfectly with juicy brisket slices infused with a rich, deep smoky flavor. This is barbecue done right—each bite bursting with layers of savory, smoky goodness that linger long after your meal is finished.
To conclude your meal, the famous peach cobbler here is a must-try. As customers like Jacob Swihart lovingly note, it is “the best cobbler I've ever had,” a delightful balance of warm, spiced peaches encased in a buttery crust, topped with creamy ice cream that melts slowly into every bite. This dessert alone warrants a special stop, and many visitors, including Reba McBride and her husband, find themselves tempted to take some of the cobbler or chocolate pie home for later indulgence.
What truly elevates the experience at Tommy’s Bar-B-Que is the family-owned charm and the deeply personal touch in their service. Owners Tommy, his wife, and daughter make every guest feel like part of their extended family. This is not just a restaurant; it’s a warm, welcoming haven in small-town Texas, where the sense of community warms you just as much as the food. Jessica Hall recalls being invited to join the family table, highlighting the genuine kindness that permeates the atmosphere.
The restaurant’s cozy, spotless interior mirrors the care put into their BBQ, creating a comfortable space where you can relax and savor every bite. Whether you're seated inside or grabbing two racks of ribs to take back home—yes, even to New York!—Tommy’s Bar-B-Que delivers on quality and heart. Affordable and full of flavor, it's clear why patrons like Demarcus Harris proclaim it worth every penny.
For anyone passing through Atlanta, TX, or locals looking for authentic, soul-satisfying barbecue crafted with love, Tommy's Bar-B-Que stands out as a destination that feeds more than just hunger—it feeds your spirit.
Stopped here on a whim on the way back from a road trip. They have the best cobbler I've ever had. Tommy and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Very good people and affordable food. Good o small town warm and friendly environment. I bought $50 worth of food and it was worth every penny. Sides and all were just delicious.
Food was very delicious, restaurant is very clean and has a cozy feel to it. This is a family owned and operated restaurant and Tommy, his beautiful wife, and daughter all welcomed us warmly and stopped by at our table to see how we liked the food and we had a lovely conversation about their family and how they opened the restaurant and how much they love their community. Highly recommend the fried chicken, brisket, and the sweet potatoes and beans for side. My kid liked the sausage the best.
Absolutely wonderful food, great people, love this place. Owners treat you as family. I am by myself so they invited me to sit at table w them.
My husband and myself stopped at this little gem on the way back home to Houston from Texarkana. Family owned restaurant with very friendly people. Food was amazing I had the 2 meat plate with sides. Delicious ate all of it. Had the homemade chocolate pie and almost got one to take home. We will definitely be stopping back by.
Wish we could give it ten stars for the fried catfish alone! The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. The cornbread fresh from the oven. Side dishes were just as tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The decor was fun. Great service. Just wished we lived closer.
We had an amazing lunch on our way through town. The sausage was amazing (we can’t get this kind of food in Alabama); cabbage and black eyed peas were perfectly cooked and FRESH FROM THE OVEN peach cobbler!!!! We also had a delightful visit with the owner- definitely on our list for the next trip here.
